The following address result message codes (addressResultMessages) have been removed from Payroll Point because they are not needed in the geocoding process: AE08, AE09, AE14, and AE17.

Symmetry Payroll Point and API

Maryland

Maryland county tax names updated for nonresidents

[STEHOSTED-290, PRP-3088]

We've updated how Maryland county tax names are reported for Maryland nonresidents within Symmetry Payroll Point Portal and API for clarity.

Payroll Point will now return the Maryland county tax for nonresidents as "Additional Maryland State Withholding on Nonresidents." Previously, this tax was returned with the county tax name (for example "Montgomery County Tax").

Nonresidents always use this special rate of 2.25% instead of the normal county rate. The Maryland county tax for nonresidents is required to be paid as part of Maryland SIT.

Please note that the returned rate itself has not changed, only the description.

This change only affects the API and Portal and not the legacy Web Service.

Maryland county tax required for MD residents working in non-income tax state

[STEHOSTED-300, PRP-3169]

Symmetry Payroll Point will now return Maryland county taxes as required for Maryland residents who work in a state without a state income tax (Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming).

  • For clients using Symmetry Payroll Point Portal, the tax will now show up in this scenario under the "Taxes required to withhold" section.
  • For clients using Symmetry Payroll Point API, the tax will now return "paid": true in this scenario.

This change only affects the API and Portal and not the legacy Web Service.

Symmetry Payroll Point Portal

Additional columns added to the batch download template builder

[PRP-2863, PRP-3038, PRP-3106]

  • Location Work STATE Code
  • Location Work CNTY
  • Location Work CNTY Code
  • Location Work CITY
  • Location Work CITY Code
  • Location Work MUNI
  • Location Work MUNI Code
  • Location Work SCHL
  • Location Work SCHL Code
  • Location Work JEDD

  • Location Home SCHL
    Location Home SCHL Code
  • Home Success

  • Home EIT Rate
  • Work EIT Rate

This location data is still returned within the standard Location Code download report in Portal. You can find the mappings of the legacy template fields to these new fields within the Legacy Batch Download Template Migration documentation.

* Please note that including the Home Result Messages or Work Result Messages columns in your download template will result in a much larger export file. Symmetry recommends clients use the standard location code download report to export location data and the batch template builder to export tax data.

Trial client transaction limit message clarified

[PRP-3079]

We've clarified the message returned from Portal when a trial client has reached the maximum number of transactions for their trial period.

Trial clients will now see the following error messages:

  • When requesting a new lookup but the maximum number of transactions has already been reached: The number of allowed trial transactions has already been used.
  • When processing a batch: The number of allowed trial transactions left is [NUMBER OF TRANSACTIONS LEFT] but this request would need to use [TOTAL BATCH TRANSACTIONS], therefore the operation is not allowed.
